How this episode killed me inside:

- Beatrice was killed, “okashira”
- Elsa wasn’t killed by Beatrice who is a yin magic master, hense is very strong.
- Elsa stabbing Subaru’s eye
- Emilia is corrupted
- Roswaal is antagonistic
- Roswaal chidoris the shit out of Ram and Garfiel.
- Garfiel’s desperate attempt to heal the woman he loves while crying her name.
- Roswaal basically decapitated mourning and dying Garfiel before he transformed.
- Roswaal torturing and beating the shit out of Subaru.
- Roswaal being “noble” before letting himself get eaten by the Great Rabbit.
- The fact that Subaru obviously went through the agony of having his body chewed up and still live.
- Corrupted Emilia with the music box music being creepy and reminding us that this show is a psychological horror and thriller anime.
- Corrupted Emilia being a total yandere with those blank eyes…

This is why I don’t recommend watching this show to those who want to START watching anime. Start with basics.

Recommend a basic please. The first anime that I have watched is Kuroko no Basket, first shounen is Akame ga kill, first romance is The Quintessential quintuplets, and first isekai is SAO

that's actually not a bad list. SAO is a pretty solid start for Isekai, it's kind of aged into the middle of the road, not too deep and not too shallow. Kuroko no Basket is reasonably okay as a first anime, as are many other sports anime. i never watched the quintessential quintuplets, but i'm not all that interested in romance outside shounen anime.

as for Akame ga Kill, you will be hard pressed to find a story as deep and well written that fails so spectacularly when it comes to making character deaths feel meaningful rather than avoidable or simply nonsensical. i've always had a hard time with well written stories because i try to rationalize things from an in-universe perspective, through the context and circumstances provided by the story. the better the writing, the more difficult it becomes to adhere to that when you want to reject a turn of events. when things make sense from the perspective of the story, your not arguing that the story is unrealistic, your arguing that you refuse to accept that whatever happened in the story makes sense.

i don't have that problem with Akame ga Kill, because the writing and world building are highly prone to self destruct at critical moments. so as a Shounen or Bishounen anime, it's a pretty good start point simply because there aren't very many that are so well written at some points and so poorly written at others. but as far as a more basic option i'd say you'd be looking for a classic that aged well like Inuyasha.

hmm... i'd have to agree with that last bit. it takes time to be able to appreciate depth, strong pacing and proper development in a story. whether that's anime, LN, manga, or any other format. if a person can't do that, they really miss out on 80% of what they watch. there's simply too many people out there that can't even get to the point where they can understand or comprehend Danmachi, and honestly that just makes me feel sorry for them. it's a simple truth that it becomes that much harder to understand something when you feel the need to reject it.

RE:Zero is actually fairly easy in that regard. if i wanted to pick a series that was difficult i'd have to say Akame ga Kill was the worst for me. the writing and story building was simply too good, and then it fell flat on it's face every time one of the main cast died. literally every single member of the Night Raid that dies does so under circumstances that simply don't work from a writing perspective. the writing and story building literally go to hell EVERY single time, and in most cases you can't even force an argument for how the writing works. i won't defend that statement, because even if i can i'd need to add another 3-5 paragraphs. i'll let it go unless someone wants me to.

but aside from the way the writing in Akame ga Kill self-destructs every time it needs to kill a member of the main cast, it fits in as another incredibly well written setting with superb depth and story building. it's kind of sad that people need to try so hard to reject the things they don't want to accept. like you said, if people want to START watching anime, they should start with something simpler.

what's crazy is i always teetered on the idea of multiple timelines he was basically jumping to. i felt bad each and every time people died bc of this. that makes it all the more depressing. i'll never forget puck being the one to decapitate subaru while he was holding rem's dead body in all that snow. that was the most chilling death to me still.

Yeah i had wondered that too, do the worlds where Subaru dies carry on? Even if it is the case i doubt it would really change anything and it would just make Subaru even more depressed. So i doubt we would ever get any answers for it.

Roswaal killed Ram and Garfiel to pretty much tell Subaru that he knows about his deathloops. Roswaal said that the current timeline doesnt go along with what happened in the book. I really dont know what to make of this. Roswaals goal was to kill the dragon, thats what he said in season 1

Subarus light in his eyes fated and you could see he died, then Satella kissed him. Its sad that the season he realised it was not Emilia was when Satella said she loved him. If Emilia ever does tell him, hes going to be so paranoid.
